Prediction of biodiesel fuel properties from fatty acid alkyl ester |

Because of limited reserves and high price of oil, that is the most widely used energy sources, interest in its substitute is increasing day by day. Biodiesel that is one of them substitutes has been actively researched. Biodiesel is a non-polluting fuels made from vegetable oil or animal fats as raw materials. Biodiesel is made by transesterification method by using the alcohol. At this, fatty acid alkyl ester by generated is the most basic molecular structure of biodiesel. Therefore, analysis of the fatty acid alkyl ester can predict the characteristics of the biodiesel. In this study, fatty acid alkyl ester (basic structure of the biodiesel) are measured of physical properties (higher heating value, kinematic viscosity, and specific gravity). And that can predict the fuel properties of biodiesel by using vegetable oil as the primary data is to use. Furthermore, it aims to be applied to predict the performance of biodiesel based on animal fats. |
