Localized Surface Plasmon Resonance Properties of Au Nanoparticles/Dendrimer Multilayers Prepared from Layer-by-Layer Assembly Method |

Multilayer thin films of anionic Au nanoparticles (AuNPs) and cationic phosphorus dendrimers were deposited on 3-aminopropyldimethylsilane-coated substrates using layer-by-layer (LbL) assembly based on electrostatic interaction. The growth of the Au/dendrimer multilayers composed of AuNPs with the diameter of about 3 nm and 16 nm and 2 nm-sized dendrimer was monitored by UV-vis spectroscopy. The Au-containing multilayers have two surface plasmon bands at ~530 nm and ~600 nm, and the latter exhibits red-shift upon increasing the areal density of AuNPs as well as the increase of the layer number. These results demonstrate that the near-field coupling between the surface plasmons is responsible for the controlled absorption behavior. |
