Direct Patterning of Live/Dead Bacteria Using Polymer Coated AFM Probe |

The dip-pen nanolithography(DPN) process uses a scanning probe tip to directly deposit a material with nanometer-scale precision onto a substrate. DPN is a particularly attractive tool for patterning biological and soft organic structures onto surface. In this work, we have patterned E.coli bacterial cells on LB-agar substrate via DPN technique by using poly(2-methyl-2-oxazoline)(PMeOx)-coated AFM probe which was fabricated by ring opening polymerization of 2-methyl-2-oxazoline monomers on the probe surface. Furthermore, We demonstrate that the patterned bacterial cells can be proliferated on LB-agar substrate on the appropriate incubation conditions. The sythesized PMeOx-coated AFM probe and parttern of bacterial cells were characterized with fluorescent microscope, SEM and AFM. |
