Synthesis and characterizations of phenanthrene polymer derivatives with high Voc for organic solar cells |

In recent times, there has been considerable interest about organic solar cells (OSCs) due to lightweight, inexpensive, and flexible characteristics. Conventional thiophene derivatives have shown a high power conversion efficiency by relatively high short circuit current and fill factor. However, they are limited by relatively low open circuit voltage (Voc) due to high HOMO (highest occupied molecular orbital) level. Generally, poly(2,7-phenanthrenylene) derivatives have large band gap and deep HOMO level compared to P3HT, and it has chance to achieve higher Voc. In this presentation, we synthesized novel donor polymers containing phenanthrene backbone for improved Voc with push-pull structure to absorb wide range of the solar spectrum. We will present the synthesis and characterization of novel low band gap donor polymers which have different solubilizing group and accepting units. |
