Quantum dots (QDs) have recently emerged as a next-generation display material for example, photo-transformation film. However, its commercial application is still limited because quantum yield of QDs is easily degraded by aggregation in matrix polymer and environmental factors such as heat, high energy light, moisture, and oxygen. We fabricated a microcapsule for encapsulating QDs using of semi-crystalline polymers consisting of stacks of 2 dimensional crystal planes. We confirmed that QDs were well-dispersed in the microcapsule and exhibited photo-stability. In hot condition, however, QD degradation was accelerated by oxygen transferred through matrix polymer. Here the microcapsule was coated with barrier materials in order to reduce oxygen transfer. We will present the effect of barrier coating on photo-stability of photo-transformation films. |
