SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF ACENE-TYPE MATERIALS FOR OTFT APPLICATION |

Organic thin film transistors (OTFTs) have attracted much attention as a flexible and low-cost device. Pentacene is one of the most promising organic semiconducting materials for OTFTs, since it offers better performance with high charge mobilities than most other organic semiconductors. However, a significant drawback of pentacene is its low solubility in common solvents, which makes it incompatible with low-cost solution deposition methods. Here we reported synthesis and characterization of pentacene derivatives for solution-procssable OTFT application. We found introduction of bulky substituents to the pentacene provide enough solubility to fabricate OTFT devices by solution casting. |
