The various transition metal-based catalysts enabled the synthesis of a wide variety of functional conjugated polymers form acetylene monomers. In this study, transition metal-catalyzed polymerization of substituted 3-ethynylbiphenyls and dendritic benzylpropargyl ethers were investigated. The using of the Rh-based and Pd-based catalysts exhibited high molecular weights and yield, whereas the Mo and W catalysts showed relatively low molecular weights and yield for the present polymerization. The structure and property of polymers were characterized and evaluated by such various instrumental methods as NMR, IR, UV–visible spectroscopies, TGA and DSC. |
