Polymerization of Propargylammonium Bromides by Transition Metal Catalysts |

Because the ionic conjugated polymers contain extensive conjugation and ionic nature, this ionic polyacetylene family has potentials as material candidates for mixed ionic and electronic conductivity, energy storage devices such as batteries, permselective membrane, and light-emitting devices. Here, we report the synthesis of new ionic polyacetylene derivatives with quaternary ammonium salt via the transition-metal catalyzed polymerization of various propargylammonium bromides. Instrumental analysis data revealed that the polymer had the fully conjugated backbone system with the designed substituents. The electro-optical and electrochemical properties of polymer were also measured and discussed. |
