Microstructure and Phase Behavior of Block Copoly (ether ester) Thermoplastic Elastomers Ku Tae Hee, Il Kim*, Chang Sik Ha The WCU Center for Synthetic Polymer Bioconjugate Hybrid Materials,Department of Polymer Science and EngineeringPusan National University, Busan 609-735, Korea *Email: [email protected] A poly(ethylene naphthalene-2,6-dicarboxylate)-b-poly(tetramethylene oxide) copolymers with different composition of rigid PBN and PTMO flexible segments were synthesized from dimethyl 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylate(NDC), 1,4-butanediol (BDO) and poly(ethylene glycol) (PTMO, Mn = 1000 g/mol) in a two stage process involving transesterification and polycondensation in the melt. A variety of analytical techniques, including solid state 13C NMR and DSC were applied. The phase structure, thermal and mechanical heavily depend the copolymer compositions. Such as the amount (35-60 wt %) and block length (1000-2000g/mol) of the soft component. |
