Magnetic nanoparticles (NPs) have been recognized as a highly promising nanomaterial in the field of biomedical application, because they can be used as a separation tool for biological samples. Especially, they can be utilized as multifunctional nanoparticles via hybridizing with other functional nano materials such as highly fluorescent quantum dots(QDs), which are also widely exploited in various bioapplications. Herein, we prepared QDs-embedded iron oxide-silica NPs (Fe2O3@SiO2@QDs NPs), which have both magnetic and fluorescent properties. The structure of Fe2O3@SiO2@QDs NPs is a core-shell type, which has iron oxide nanoparticle in the core part of silica backbone, while hundreds of QDs at the silica surface. We demonstrate that these multifunctional NPs have a great potential in bioassay, especially in the multiplexed cell-separation. |
