Methane, majority of shale gas, is used as the fuel, but the extensive efforts to develop the methane conversion process to produce more valuable chemicals directly or indirectly has been studied. However, as the indirect conversion requires additional installation cost for reaction and separation, the direct conversion route have been researched extensively. Methane dehydroaromatization is the reaction to synthesize aromatics such as benzene, toluene, and xylene from methane directly. Since methane is highly stable, its activation under non-oxidative condition is the challenging work. Thus, co-dehydroaromatization with other light hydrocarbon such as ethane could be the breakthrough for overcoming the limitations. In this study, Pt, which is well known as the component of dehydrogenation, was introduced to Ga/HZSM-5 catalyst to improve its catalytic activity. Pt promoted the dehydrogenation step, which was activation step of reactants, and it directly related to the enhanced catalytic activity. |
