Preparation of Alginate/Poly ethylene oxide anti-adhesion film to prevent post-surgical tissue adhesion |

In this study, a new anti-adhesion barrier made of alginate/Poly ethylene oxide (PEO) was fabricated via electrospinning. Electrospining is good method to make nanofiber films. Alginate is one of most commonly used biopolyer in tissue engineering and other related applications. The structure and morphology of electrospun barrier were examined using atomic force microscopy. Fourier Transform infrared spectroscopy was used for qualitative analysis of the alginate/PEO film. In vitro cell adhesion on the alginate/PEO barrier was evaluated by incubation cells on the glass slide (control) and the anti-adhesion film. Cell viability was checked using live/dead assay. Fluorescence microscopic images showed fewer cells attached to the anti-adhesion alginate/PEO film as compared to the control. Cells avioded contact with the anti-adhesion film due to anti-adhesion properties of alginate/PEO film. Thus alginate/PEO films can be used as anti-adhesion films to avoid tissue adhesions. |
