It is well know that rational optical design in optoelectronic devices enables enhanced device performance. To surpass a conventional limit given by classical optics, nanostructures and nanomaterials have attracted great interest because of their extraordinary optical features that are characterized by highly localized field, long photon lifetime and anomalously large absorption and scattering cross section. In this talk, I would like to discuss how these structures and materials have been harnessed for diverse nanophotonic applications. In particular, I will focus on ultrathin solar cells using core/shell Si nanowires. |
