Synthesis and characterization of polyurethane base on the hyperbranched polyester polyol |

Hyperbranched polyesters were synthesized through the reaction of 2,2-bis(hydroxymethyl)propionic acid (HMPA) with trimethylolpropane (TMP) using acid catalysis. Varying feed ratios of the HMPA as aliphatic AB2 monomer and the TMP as the core molecule, the synthesized hyperbranched polyesters displayed different degree of polymerization (DP) and also the number of hydroxyl groups on their surface should be varied. These hydroxyl group-terminated hyperbranched polyesters were treated with 4,4’-methylenebis (phenylisocyanate) to afford polyurethane. FT-IR spectroscopy indicated the successful synthesis of polyurethane by the C=O and C-N stretching at 1736 and 1064 cm-1. The TGA analysis exhibited unique thermal behavior with stepwise decomposition. After cast films, they are going to be tested physical properties. |
