Metal oxides are incorporated as nanofillers (NFs) in the polymer electrolytes to reduce the polymer crystallinity and enhance ion conductivity. In this study, we prepare two types of Co3O4 to serve as NF in polyvinyl alcohol electrolytes. One-dimensional Co3O4 (1-DCO) is synthesized by chemical bath deposition and via oxidation of ZIF-67, polyhedral Co3O4 (PCO) is prepared . The conductivity is measured by using 1-DCO and PCO as additives in PVA/KOH electrolyte. The optimized mass percentage was 7 wt% determined by ionic conductivity measurements using two steel blocking electrodes. Furthermore, the electrochemical properties of two electrode supercapacitors were evaluated by cyclic voltammetry, galvanostatic charge-discharge, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. As a result, the gel electrolyte containing one-dimensional Co3O4 filler was considered more suitable for supercapacitor due to provide long electron pathway and ion transfer tunnels. |
