제목 Preparation of Al2O3 layer of A2024 aluminum Alloys by Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation(PEO) process.
초록 Plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) is a novel technique to produce ceramic  coatings with unique properties on valve metals such as Al, Mg, Ti and their alloys, etc.. PEO is a complex process that combines electrochemical oxidation with oxide layer formation, dissolution and dielectric breakdown. After PEO process the wear resistance, corrosion resistance, mechanical strength and electrical insulation of the metals and their alloys can be greatly enhanced. A lot of studies have indicated that the properties of coatings produced by PEO mainly depend on the nature of the substrate metal, the type of power source, the applied current density, the compositions and concentration of the electrolyte, etc.

In the present work, processes were carried out to produce ceramic coatings on A2024 aluminum alloy by PEO process in NaOH and Na2SiO4 electrolytes. Microhardness in variety of parameters such as ratio of anodic and cathodic currents, temperature of electrolyte and anodic current density were studied and analyzed.
