제목 Preparation and Characterization of Binder Pitches from Pyrolysis Fuel Oil
초록   Coal-tar pitches are widely used as a binder in the production of aluminum anodes, graphite electrodes, and carbon/carbon composites. However, restrictive environmental legislation concerning the emission of toxic and carcinogenic fumes at work and the closing of numerous coke plants in some countries have led to the search of new pitches capable of replacing coal-tar pitches. In this respect, petroleum pitches have proved to be suitable for the preparation of high-density carbon precursor and can be a good alternative. In this study, The residual pyrolysis fuel oil (PFO) by residues of naptha cracking process is heat-treated at 200~360℃. The raw binder pitches are characterized by FT-IR, DSC, TG/DTG, elemental analysis, etc. Thermal analyses exhibit different characteristics in pyrolysis behavior of pitches.
