제목 Formation and Characterization of Polymer Vesicles Using mPEG-PDLLA Diblock Copolymers
초록 The polymer vesicles from biodegradable diblock copolymers have been produced to examine the physical and chemical properties for the carriers in drug delivery.1,2 In this work, we demonstrated the assembly of block copolymers using emulsion drops to form polymer vesicles. Those diblock copolymer vesicles were robust and stable in aqueous phase. The biocompatible diblock copolymers of poly (ethylene glycol) methyl ether(mPEG) and D,L-lactide were synthesized by ring opening polymerization.3 Formation of bilayers was conducted via producing water-in-oil emulsion drops, followed by sedimentation through oil/aqueous phases. The structure and characteristics of polymer vesicles were examined as a function of the molecular weight ratio of hydrophilic component to hydrophobic one. The ratio was controlled by changing the weight fraction of D,L- lactide monomers during polymerization.
The polymer vesicles could have an application in encapsulation of active agents. To show the capacity of encapsulation, we used fluorescein isothiocyanate Dextran 4000-conjugate as a water-soluble agents for drug delivery. Optical microscopy and confocal laser scanning microscope(CLSM) were used to characterize the prepared polymer vesicles.
