The different crosslinking agent can contribute to the function of an ion-exchange membrane. This study makes a comparison between a crosslinking membrane in glutaric dialdehyde (AVSH-GD) and a crosslinking membrane in glutaric acid (AVSH-GA). The two membranes were scheduled to perform dissimilarly. By means of our experimental, the AVSH-GA indicated a better performance than the AVSH-GD. The structures of the membranes were confirmed using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The thermal properties were analyzed using by Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) and Thermo Gravimetric Analysis (TGA). The general functions of the membranes were measured such as electrical resistance chemical resistance, water uptake, ion exchange capacity (IEC), degrees of crosslinking and the tensile strength of the membranes. The following were among their findings. |
