The rationale for the current study was that the dual delivery of 2D and 3D keratinocytes through CSCPs would allow 2D and 3D keratinocytes to complement each other and accelerate wound healing. The conventional method for delivering keratinocytes, which were used in this study, showed disadvantages in cell viability and cell density compared to the CSCP system. In CSCP, 3D keratinocytes complemented the cell viability and angiogenic gene expression of the 2D keratinocyte delivery system. While 3D keratinocytes had decreased proliferation, 2D keratinocytes had higher proliferation-related gene expression. After in vivo CSCP treatment with keratinocytes, re-epithelization and angiogenesis were significantly improved, resulting in fast skin wound healing. Our novel CSCP might aid advances in wound healing therapeutics by facilitating fast re-epithelization and revascularization. |
