The assembly of nanoparticles and nanorods has been widely investigated due to many potential engineering applications. Especially, self-assembly of metallic nanorods has been of great interest due to their geometry dependent unique optical properties. The plasmonic resonance of gold nanorods can be tuned by their three dimensional arrangement. Up to date, there have been many reports on assembly of metallic nanorods including chemically driven assembly, template-directed patterning, and physical methods such as polymer stretching and electric field induction. Herein, we investigated the size effect of Ag nanorods on their self-assembly. Depending on the aspect ratio, nanorods showed several distinctive assembly behaviors. The structure of nanorods and the assembly have been characterized by SEM, UV-Vis spectroscopy. |
