We report the facile modification of poly(triazine imide), PTI, based graphitic carbon nitride (g-CN) using alkali metal halides to give an efficient photocatalyst for hydrogen evolution from water. PTI was synthesized in a series of eutectic mixtures (LiX:KX, X=Cl, Br and I) to generate highly condensed g-CN materials incorporated with Li, K and halogen. We attempted to simultaneously 1) control the polymerization mode via polycondensation of DCDA in eutectic mixture and 2) tune the electronic properties via incorporation of various inorganic species. |
