제목 Tracheal Tissue Regeneration within Asymmetrically Porous Tube Combined with 3D Printed Scaffold
초록 Reconstruction of the damaged trachea caused by tracheal stenosis, congenital disorders, and prolonged endotracheal intubation is one of the most difficult procedures in otolaryngology surgery. The main reasons of the failure of tracheal defect reconstruction were strongly related to airway stenosis, airway collapse, and mucus impaction. For more effective trachea reconstruction, artificial trachea transplantation made of polymer matrices has been clinically used. In this study, tracheal reconstruction using polycaprolactone (PCL) asymmetrically porous tube combined with 3D printed PCL scaffold was carried out using a rabbit model. Before the animal study, the mechanical properties of rabbit trachea, PCL tube and/or 3D printed PCL tube were analyzed. From the animal study, we evaluated and compared the endoscopic, radiologic, histologic characterizations, and survival outcomes of the tracheal implant composed of PCL tube and/or 3D printed PCL tube.
