Synthesis and characterization of the reinforced membrane based on sulfonated polyphenylene oxide (sPPO)/Nafion |
초록 |
The reinforced membranes based on Nafion/sulfonated polyphenylene oxide (sPPO) were prepared for the application of vanadium redox flow battery. In the reinforced membranes, sulfonic acid ionic groups of the membrane have roles of proton conductor, and PPO can be used as a polymer having good mechanical strength. The membranes can obtain their advantages of high proton conductivity as well as good dimensional change. For the successful preparation of reinforced membrane, PPO was sulfonated using chlorosulfonic acid, which increased the hydrophilic sulfonic acid groups. The reinforeced membrane was characterized by water uptake, dimensional change, proton conductivity, ion exchange capacity (IEC) and cell performance of VRFB. Additionally, they were compared with Nafion 212 as a reference membrane in this study. |
