Dissecting multiple stages of T cell activation using microfabrication technology based on novel polymeric materials |
초록 |
T cell activation is a key initial step in pathogen-specific host immune defense. Activated T cells combat foreign pathogens either by orchestrating multiple arms of the immune system or directly killing infected cells. As is the case with many biological events, the activation of T cells takes place by complex cell-cell interactions. Manipulating and probing such complex cell-cell interactions has been challenging with classical biological approaches. Microfabrication based on novel polymeric materials have been a powerful tool in dissecting cell-cell and cell-extracellular matrix interactions for many years by allowing spatial organization of key signaling molecules and relative position of different or the same type of cells on the surfaces to be precisely controlled. In this presentation, I will present how this new emerging strategy can be adapted and applied to dissect molecular and cellular mechanisms of T cell activation. |
