Preparation of spherical YAG:Ce phosphor particles by liquid-phase synthesis |
초록 |
Recently, some researches about the phosphor synthesis have been focused on the preparation of spherical particles with small particle size in order to improve efficiency as reducing the amount of light scattering at surface and increasing the packing density. In this sturdy, cerium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet (YAG:Ce) phosphor was synthesized by the liquid-phase synthesis using a forced hydrolysis reaction. In the reaction, the used solvent was a mixed solution of alcohol and water. As a precipitant for precipitation of Y, Al and Ce, excess urea was used. The crystal structure of the synthesized phosphor was identified by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and the morphology was observed by FE-SEM. The photoluminescence properties for the phosphors under UV excitation were investigated. According to the volume ratio of alcohol to water, the morphology of particles was largely influenced. By the optimized process, the spherical precursor particles with submicron diameter were formed at the 4~5 ratio of the alcohol/water solvent. The single phase of YAG:Ce phosphor was obtained with calcination at 1100℃. From the measured PL spectrum, it was observed that the spherical YAG:Ce phosphor emits yellow light peaked at around 560 nm, which is consistent with typical emission pattern of YAG:Ce phosphor. |
