Thermo-Responsive Melanin Hydrogels as a Photothermal Therapeutic Agent |

In this study, we suggest thermos-responsive melanin hydrogels for photothermal therapy (PTT). Thermosensitive polymer solution containing melanin (MEL sol.) showed excellent photothermal effects when exposed to 808 nm irradiation. In addition, the polymer solution formed hydrogels when temperature of the solution by the irradiation reached body temperature. Following intratumoral injection of MEL sol. into tumors of xenograft-bearing mice, laser irradiation induced phototheraml tumor ablation and the tumor tissues were successfully destroyed. As a result, We anticipated that Thermosensitive-Melanin solution is a notable PTT agent. Acknowledgements: Basic Science Research Program (NRF-2015R1C1A1A02036746). |
