Performance of Microbial Fuel Cells with Acid-Treated Multiwalled Carbon Nanotube Anode |

Multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) are nanostructures with remarkable electronic and mechanical properties. Meditatorless microbial fuel cell (MFC) was constructed using acid-treated multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) on graphite felt anode to increase power density. Here we report the synthesis, characterization and performance of functionalized MWNTs as electrode materials for MFC application. We attempt to gain insight into the affinity of the modified MWNTs containing different COOH contents which are obtained by acid treatments at different conditions. The improvement of power generation of the modified anodes may result from the changes of surface functional groups on graphite felt. |
