Solubility induced crystallization using a marginal solvent provides self-organized poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) nanowires (NWs) to fabricate interpenetrating networks in bulk heterojunction (BHJ) layers of organic solar cells (OSCs). At the active layer thickness of 300 nm, the devices with P3HT NWs exhibited the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 4.25 % while the devices with small nanocrystals (NCs) from good solvent presented PCE of 1.08 %. The influences of P3HT NWs on photocurrent generation with varying thicknesses of photoactive layers were comparatively investigated with P3HT NCs by calculating the consecutive efficiencies of photon absorption, exciton diffusion, exciton dissociation, and charge transport. |
