One of the most important issues for enhancing the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of organic photovoltaic cells (OPVs) has been the development of -conjugated polymers that exhibit broad visible wavelength absorption, high charge carrier mobility, suitable energy level matching of frontier orbitals with those of the electron acceptor, and appropriate chain orientation that form an optimum pathway for the charge carriers to the electrodes. Creating bulk heterojunction (BHJ) morphologies containing nanometer-sized, interconnected, and -conjugated domains of both the electron donors (D) and acceptors (A) is also crucial for photovoltaic performance. In this presentation, I will talk about design concept and recent progress on new conjugated polymer donors for organic photovoltaic cells conducted in my research lab. |
