Preparation and characterization of polyethersulfone (PES)/sulfonated polethersulfone (SPES) blend membrane for water vapor recovery |
초록 |
The application of membrane technology for water vapor separation from flue gas has attracted much attention in terms of energy saving and re-use of water resource. In this study, polyethersulfone (PES) was chemically modified by sulfonation reaction to obtain sulfonated polyethersulfone (SPES) and used to prepare a blend membrane for separation and collection of water vapor from the flue gas. Various SPES with different degree of sulfonation (DS) were synthesized by adjusting the feed molar ratio of chlrorosulfonic acid as sulfonating agent and the DS increased proportionally to the feed amount of sulfonating agent. PES/SPES blend membranes with different blending compositions were prepared by phase inversion method and characterized by contact angle measurements, FT-IR, and SEM. Their capacity for water vapor permeability and selectivity was measured and compared with PES membrane. The PES/SPES membrane showed enhanced water vapor permeability with higher selectivity. |
