Graphite nanosheets (GNs)/poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) nanocomposite films were prepared by solution casting. The surface modified GNs (DA-GNs) having diamine groups were used. The effect of DA-GN content on the electrical, thermal, and mechanical properties of the nanocomposite films was investigated. As a result, the orientation of DA-GNs was confirmed using SEM and result showed that GNs having flake form were homogeneously dispersed in PMMA matrix, resulting in the formation of conductive network. The percolation threshold of the films was shown at 2 wt.% DA-GNs and electrical conductivity of the nanocomposite films increased with increasing the DA-GN content. It was attributed to the large numbers of electron conducting pathway. From TGA curves, the thermal stability of the nanocomposite films increased by addition of DA-GNs. The maximum tensile strength of the nanocomposite films was found at 1 wt.% DA-GNs due to the interfacial bonding between DA-GNs and PMMA. |
