Plastic substrates have requirements for flexible display application, and barrier properties to water vapor and oxygen are essential. In this study, Polymer-clay nanocomposites layers were prepared by in-situ polymerization. Enhancement of barrier property was examined with sonication treatment due to the positive effects of clay dispersion within the polymer solution. Moreover Coating conditions were also tested by varying the coating method and speed. Two kinds of polymer, epoxy and polyurethane acrylate were tested with two kinds of nanoclay, cloisite and nanomer. Prepolymer/nanoclay mixture was UV cured for composite layer formation. FT-IR and XRD were conducted to characterize the nanostructure of polymer-clay composites. Barrier properties of coating layer were performed by measuring WVTR and OTR, and their optical properties were examined by determining the light transmittance and haze. |
