Oxygen Reduction Electrocatalysts Based on PtPd Alloys for DMFC |

In this work, PtPd nanocatalysts were investigated for oxygen reduction reaction. These catalysts were fabricated by means of a co-sputtering system. They show higher catalytic performance than the corresponding Pt catalysts. Furthermore, the electrocatalytic properties of PtPd were found to depend strongly on the PtPd alloy degree and on the Pt/Pd atomic ratio. An optimum composition range of PtPd alloys with significant activity was identified. A correlation was also investigated between the surface reduction potential and the activity for oxygen reduction in PtPd alloys. The results demonstrate the potential of the methodology for the discovery and optimization of electrocatalysts for a wide range of applications. |
