Layer-by-Layer Assembled Nonvolatile Memory Devices using Nucleophilic Substitution Reaction in Nonpolar Solvent |

We introduce a facile and robust method for the preparation of superparamagnetic nanocomposite multilayers (SNMs), which allows the highly enhanced magnetic and electronic properties as well as the dense and homogeneous adsorption of nanoparticles. These SNMs using layer-by-layer (LbL) assembly could be fabricated in nonpolar solvent by nucleophilic substitution reaction (NSR) of between bromo-functionalized superparamagnetic nanoparticles (SPMNP) and highly branched amine groups poly (amidoamine) dendrimer (PAMA) without any additional phase transfer of SPMNP for conventional LbL assembly. These resulting SNMs displayed highly improved magnetic properties in comparison with those of multilayers based on water-dispersible SPMNP. Furthermore, we demonstrated that 7 nm BMPA-SPMNP multilayers could be used as an active layer of nonvolatile resistive switching memory (NRSM) devices at room temperature comparable to that of conventional inorganic NRSM devices produced by vacuum deposition. |
