Electromagnetic interference shielding effectiveness of metal-plated pelletized carbon nanotube-reinforced polypropylene matrix composites |

In this work, electromagnetic interference shielding effectiveness (EMI-SE) of Cu-plated pelletized carbon nanotube(Cu-CNT)-reinforced polypropylene matrix composites were investigated. The surface morphologies, chemical composition, and structural features of the Cu-CNT were characterized by SEM, XPS and XRD, respectively. Specific electrical resistance of the composites was measured using a 4-point-probe electric resistivity tester. The EMI-SE of the composites was evaluated by means of the reflection and adsorption methods. From the results, it was found that the EMI-SE of the composites enhanced with increasing metal and CNT contents. In conclusion, metal content on the pelletized CNT can increase the EMI-SE of the composites. However, excessive metal loading didn't caused high EMI-SE of the composites, indicating that suitable metal loading is required for metal-CNT/PP composites. |
