Enhanced thermal conductivity of polymer composites in a hybrid filler system. |

The use of polymers in electronic devices is increasing for weight loss, low cost, facile processability and high performance. Also, the effective heat release of electronic devices become important. But polymers have the inherently low thermal conductivity (~ 0.2 W/m∙K) and therefore, improving their thermal conductivity is one of the most important issues in these fields. In this work, it has been demonstrated that enhanced thermal conductivity of polyamide6 (PA6) composites using a hybrid filler of graphite nanoplatelet (GNP) and single walled carbon nanotube (SWNT). Surface modification of SWNT was investigated to improve the interfacial bonding between polymer and filler. PA6 composites based on hybrid fillers (GNP and SWNT) were prepared by a microcompounder. Thermal conductivity of the composites was measured by standard laser flash method. |
