Soybean Oil Based Antimicrobial Composition |

Renewable raw materials have an important role in the development of sustainable materials in green chemistry. They offer a large number of possibilities for applications which can be rarely met by petrochemistry. Soybean oil (SBO) is sustainable material for efficient green chemistry. The epoxidation of SBO with performic acid generated in situ by the reaction of 30 wt% hydrogen peroxide and formic acid. Amine-functionalized SBO synthesis is based on the ring opening reaction of epoxidized soybean oil (ESBO) with pyrrolidine, piperidine and hexamethylenimine. Soybenoil-based quaternary ammonium salts using solvent-free conditions in the reaction of amine-functionalized SBO with benzyl chloride. The resultant products are confirmed by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and Infrared (IR) spectroscopic technices. Antimicrobial activity was confirmed gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. |
