Surface Engineering of Microfludic Devices with Polyelectrolyte Multilayers |

Microfluidic or nanofluidic devices have been received a great attraction in chemical and biological applications. Due to the increase of the surface/volume ratio, control of the surface properties of these devices is highly important. In this paper, we utilized layer-by-layer deposition method to modify the surface of the micro-channel of the device in order to control the wettability and chemical functionality of the inner surfaces. We have studied various polyelectrolyte multilayer coatings to change the surface property of the channels. We also synthesized metal nanoparticles inside of the microchannels using the multilayer films as templates. |
