Photopatterning of Cadmium Free Quantum Dots by Thio-Ene Click Reaction |

Quantum dots (QDs) are quantum confined semiconductor nanocrystals that show size dependent variation in the emission wavelengths.They shows the highly desired multiple exciton generation.[1]They have potential for applications in light-emitting diodes, solar cells,and the medical,defense and many other areas of photonics and biophotonics. Many groups are involved in the development of solution processable quantum dots. We have previously demonstrated heavy metal containing photopatternable QDs.[2-3] However they are deemed unusable in consumer electronic devices due to their toxicity.Cadmium free quantum dots were functionalized thiol-ligand to make them solution processable and photopatternable.Exchange of ligands by thiol-ene click reactions was successfully followed using IR spectroscopy.We present the synthesis of environment friendly cadmium-free red,green,blue QDs. |
