Induction of re-endothelialization by endothelial progenitor cell capturing stent |

The damage of endothelial layer for stent implantation is a critical factor for restenosis and thrombosis. Restoration of damaged endothelium might be well-built way to reduce late stent thrombosis and restenosis. Some reports demonstrated that endothelial progenitor cell (EPC) can differentiate endothelial cell and then enhance re-endothelialization. In this studies, we evaluated protein immobilized stent might recruit EPC and restore damaged endothelium. Polydopamine coating on metal was accomplished for protein immobilization. Protein was immobilized on polydopamine coated sample. The obtained surface was confirmed by FT-IR and contact angle. EPC capturing protein coated stent might accelerate re-endothelialization and consequently reduce late stent thrombosis and restenosis through the ability of capturing EPC. |
