Trifluoromethylated Poly(arylene ether)s with Low Refractive Indices by Meta-activated Nitro Displacement |

In this presentation, I will discuss the utilization of nucleophilic aromatic substitution reaction (SNAr) for the synthesis of high molecular weight poly(arylene ether)s including poly(biphenylene oxide)s containing one and two trifluoromethyl groups on one phenyl ring through a meta-activated nucleophilic nitro displacement reaction. The effect of number of trifluoromethyl groups on the reactivity of the SNAr reaction and other physical and optical properties of the polymers will be presented. |
