Transmission Properties of UV-curable polymer/Nanoclay Composites with Surface Modification |

Transmission properties of UV-curable polymer composites filled with exfoliated nanoclay was studied with modification of nanoclay surface. Epoxy modified carboxyl type oligomer and acrylate type monomer were used as UV-curable resin. Modification of nanoclay surface was performed using epoxy modified silicone oil and coupling agent. Exfoliation of the nanoclay was confirmed by X-ray diffraction spectroscopy (XRD) and the transparency of polymer/nanoclay composites was measured by UV-visible spectrometer. Transmission properties as oxygen transmission rate (OTR) and water vapor transmission rate (VTR) were measured by MOCON test. Surface modified polymer/nanoclay composites are shown lower transmission properties than polymer/nanoclay composites. |
