In this article, we describe Poly(L-lactide)(PLLA), a biodegradable polyester, is attracting growing interest as a biologically friendly synthetic biomaterial an enable to many practical applications in controlled drug release and matrix tissue engineering. Poly(ethyleneglycol) (PEG) also has outstanding physicochemical and biological properties, including high hydrophilicity, water solubility, lack of toxicity, and absence of antigenicity and immunogenicity. Block copolymers may exhibit diverse mechanical properties not shown by the individual homopolymers. Thus, synthesis of block copolymers with different proportions of PLLA and PEG has been of interest for many years. Such copolymers have biomedical and pharmacological applications as synthetic biomaterials, drug release matrices, or |
