제목 Spheroidal Assembly of Polymeric One-Dimensional Nanostructures with Mesenchymal Stem Cells: Inducing Adipogenic Differentiation and Using as Building Blocks for Soft Tissue Reconstruction
초록 Polymeric 1D nanostructures are promising for future biomedical application due to their bio-mimicking structures, self-assembly functionalities, and induction of unique cellular responses. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are capable of differentiation into various connective tissue lineages such as cartilage, bone, stroma, adipose, and tendon. Here, we report multicellular MSC spheroid assembly integrated with polymeric 1D nanostructure for adipogenic differentiation and 3D soft tissue construction. In previous study, we developed a novel top-down approach to fabricate water dispersible cylindrical nanomaterials with tunable aspect ratios by using a biodegradable and biocompatible polymer, PLA. The extent of differentiation of MSCs was investigated as a function of the nanostructure content. The results showed the PLA nanostructure could enhance adipogenic differentiation, indicating the cell-matrix interaction is crucial for the MSC differentiation.
