Microalgae are considered as promising renewable energy source due to several advantages such as rapid growth rate and high lipid contents. It can be converted to bio-diesel, bio-jet fuel, bio-ethanol and bio-gas via thermal chemical and bio-chemical process. From the methods, some microalgae biomass is converted to biodiesel via trans-esterification process and it is produced to bio-jet fuel by thermal and chemical process for alternative fuels. Biofuels characteristics derived microalgae biomass was analyzed. In conclusions, fuel properties of biodiesel from microalgae biomass was investigated by the Korean specification including FAME contents. On the other hand, bio-jet fuel from microalgae showed challenging fuel characteristics by the ASTM D 7566 specification to apply jet fuel. |
