제목 Preparation of cost-competitive petroleum pitch from pyrolysis fuel oil (PFO) in open and closed systems
초록 Pyrolysis fuel oil (PFO) is a potential material for pitch synthesis due to its high aromatic contents and low impurities. We examined characterizations of pitches prepared PFO under different pressure conditions using open and closed systems. In closed system, thermal reaction enhanced product yield of the resultant pitch by suppressing volatile molecules and engaging them in reaction. Atmosphere treatment improved coke yield by polymerization reaction during pitch synthesis. Vacuum distillation increased softening point by removing of volatile molecules without changing a molecular structure. Pitches were synthesized through combinations of open and closed systems and properties of the pitches were compared. As a result, we have produced the pitch with higher product and coke yields and confirmed possibility of producing a cost-competitive petroleum pitch.
