Organic semiconductors have been investigated for optical and electronic applications including OLED, OTFT and photovoltaics, motivated by the low cost, flexible panels. Polyaromatics such as coronene, perylene, and fullerene as organic semi-conductors have long been attracted owing to inherent self-assembly or large electron affinity. Perylene bisimide(PBI) with planar and aromatic core exhibits High photostabilities and high fluorescence quantum yields and has been derived for the purpose of electronic energy change and solution application. The core has often modified on bay sites with pi-conjugated planar extension, generating high fluorescence from the visible to the NIR. The thermal cyclization of perylene bisimide core with various dienophiles provides successful pi-extended perylene and eventually shapes coronene analogy. Electronic derivation of final perylene adduct is dependent on substituents of dienophiles and would significantly affect n-type property. |
