Colloidal semiconductor nanocrystals, referred to as “quantum dots (QDs)” have outstanding physical properties to replace the electroluminescent organic materials or inorganic phosphors in display technology. The prevalent form of QDs-display have been the film involving high concentration QDs. Unfortunately, the disadvantage of this architecture is that optical properties of QDs are degraded when they are dispersed in resin by self-aggregation. Here we developed an easy method based on self-assembly of semi-crystalline polyethylene wax. QDs were incorporated in between crystalline regions of microcapsules composed of multi-lamellar structure and their structure were confirmed by SAXS, cross-sectional TEM. We controlled the average inter-distance between the QDs in the microcapsule and analyzed Föster effects. Consequently, the optical properties of QDs in microcapsules were perfectly secured up to 33 wt%. |
