In this study, an electroless plating method was used to increase electromagnetic interference shielding efficiency (EMI-SE) of the recycled carbon fibers (RCFs). In order to observe the effects of structural properties on the EMI-SE of the composites, the RCFs were treated with different conditions. The structural properties and morphologies of carbon fibers were observed by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopes (SEM). Energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) was used for elemental analysis. Multi-purpose resistivity meter was used to verify the electrical properties by using a 4-pin probe. The EMI-SE of the composites was measured by vector network analyzer. As a result, the electrical conductivity of the composites was increased after post heat-treatment, which leading to the improved EMI-SE of the composites. Therefore, it was found that using the recycled carbon fibers for electromagnetic wave shielding materials is a good way to have economics. |
